This was always going to be a difficult fixture, coming off a bad result the week previous and coming up against one of the divisions strongest teams.

1st half we started slow, conceding a goal within 2 minutes from an defensive error but the finish from Socius on the half volley made the error hurt a little less. However, we managed to retain composure, continue the 50/50 battle for possession and managed to grab an equaliser soon after following a cross into the box which ended in a Socius own goal. All level at the break.

2nd half the back and forth battle for possession continued, up until the 70th minute when Socius took the lead. We were unable to keep our focus and they scored again shortly after in the 80th minute to have a comfortable 3-1 lead. However, we weren’t willing to roll over at home, kept calm and kept pushing to get back in the game...Attack after attack followed, David Thorne found his way into Socius’s penalty box and a poor timed tackle resulted in a penalty. Set up Matt Wood, cool as you like, 2-3, 7 minutes to go. We managed to find an equaliser and complete the comeback in the 85th minute, David Thorne found Matt Wood with a defence cutting through ball, ball went slightly wide so Matt had to work his angles, first time left footed shot curled in off the post! Early contender for goal of the season.

Overall a result we’re happy with, keeps us in the mix at the top of the table and everyone showed mentality to get back into the game, which we lacked last week.
